Nostril piercing: healing and aftercare

Rough guide: around 3–4 months. It often looks fine on the outside before it has healed on the inside.

What is normal?

At first, redness, slight swelling and crusting. A small bump is often an irritation bump – don't squeeze it, show it to your piercer. Avoid snagging, make-up, pressure from glasses or a face mask, and blowing your nose hard.

Aftercare

  • Wash your hands before touching it.
  • Soften crusts with the recommended cleaning solution.
  • Don't twist the jewellery.
  • Don't rub over the jewellery when blowing your nose.

In detail: piercing aftercare step by step.

See a doctor if redness, swelling or pain get worse after the first few days, the area feels hot, pus comes out or you develop a fever. Do not remove the jewellery yourself.
